The Arizona Department of Housing is focused on providing housing opportunities and supporting community development projects throughout the state. Formed by the State legislature, the Housing Finance Authority is authorized to issue bonds for multi-family residential rental projects, to finance residential dwelling units and establish mortgage credit certificate programs for the rural areas of the state. The Arizona Public Housing Authority has oversight and monitoring responsibilities for 111 subsidized properties, representing over 7,500 units, throughout the state. The properties, which receive rental subsidies through the Section 8 Program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, offer affordable housing to households that are at or below 50% of the area median income.
